Update on Bay Windows
Paul has been continuing to work as well on those beautiful bay windows. He scraped some of the old rust off the very top and added aluminum flashing on the eaves to protect it (just in time before the rains came). He continues to work his way down on the exterior, level by level, scraping the windows and trying to remove as much of the old paint as possible and exposing the original long hidden wood.
We’ve been told over and over by both painters and contractors, most would not do this but instead, scrape some of the old paint and remove what else they could with paint remover. This still leaves remnants of the old paint behind in sections and they then sand what’s left until it’s smooth, then re-paint with a new coat. We’ve tried this technique and although it works from a distance, we’ve found when we can do the extra effort (and we thought the bay windows was an area where it mattered), it makes such a difference! The lines are crisp and sharp as if new. His attention to detail and tireless work is amazing!
