Quick Tip – Removing Rust from Hinges – Update
A quick tip we learned this week (many of you may already know this but it was new to us). As I worked on windows from the cellar to get them ready for painting, I pulled off the old hinges and almost threw them away but thought about it and decided to check and see how to remove the rust. The style of hinge was old and if I could keep it, I wanted to. After some research, I learned that you could drop the hinges in vinegar and let them sit overnight. That’s it! A little elbow grease in the morning and voila!
Hi all. I wanted to follow up and give you an update on the little hinges that could. After removing the rust, I played with metal spray paint and here is the final version. They will go in the cellar and no one will see them but us, lol, but we’ll know they’re there!

That’s Great. Do you have to put varnish or some protective something on the wood?
