Even though we now know the names of a lot of the rooms in the house, there is a room we simply call the “Pink Room.” You can guess why. For those of you who have been in the house, it’s the one with the tin ceiling that was apparently split into two rooms (you can see where the tin ceiling pattern doesn’t come to a finished edge and if you walk into the adjoining room, the tin ceiling continues)….
This week’s clean up — ahh…a little elbow grease is amazing, isn’t it? I love these old door hardware pieces. They make the glass door knobs shine so. So if you remember this door and it’s original hardware, I’ve finally finished all of the pieces and have put them back onto the door. As mentioned, we have been working on or towards this for the past several weeks both with the contractor and suppliers for the parts. The first step had the contractors out to do a test of the radiator system. This was done several weeks back which involved an air test to see if the radiators held the pressure. Better to discover an air leak than a water leak, right? The process took hours due to the number of radiators (22)…
Do you remember our “test wall?” This was the first one we completed from top to bottom, trying to find the best process and ultimately what it would look like. It’s in! So sorry for the delay in posting this week. It’s been a busy week on the home front. The reason is after much research, conversations, quotes and proposals, we now have our tank-less hot water heater and boiler installed in the cellar. This is HUGE. Another project Paul has been working on the last few weeks is a much more formal clean out of the cellar. The cellar originally had old rusty shelves in it, long since deteriorated items stored on those shelves, broken glass, hoses, etc… As we approach the winter season we are now in the process of working with a heating company to purchase and install a new boiler and hot water heater, as well as testing the radiators (we have 22!)….
