A Look Back – 1 Year Ago

The colors are coming out all over and the foliage is turning once again into that brilliant almost blue green with flowers blooming and trees budding. It’s been present on our minds lately that it was one year ago, April 2021, when we started our new adventure. That was when we took our first trip to West Virginia and discovered this beautiful state, its genuinely kind people and what it had to offer.

We had an unexpected pleasure this week. Paul ran into our realtor who showed and sold us our home, Caroline. She stopped by to see us and it was a great reminder for us both of the progress we have made. We are at the home daily and the changes are gradual and in various places throughout the house. There is no room we can “check a box” yet.

Because of this, it’s like your child, you see them every day and don’t realize how much they’ve grown (besides needing to buy them new shoes every 4 months, lol) until a relative who visits once a year is shocked at how they’ve changed.

As we caught up and shared some of our changes, and we also discussed our move from LA to WV. Although it has some conveniences that are a little more of an effort to find here, and there are some wonderful people and family still there, she phrased it perfectly with “I’d rather live here and visit the city, than live in the city and visit the country.”

This is where we came from vs where we live now. And yep, I agree 110% with that sentence.

For fun, I thought I’d post a few pics below of where it was and where we are now. We feel blessed to have this opportunity. We still have a long way to go but the ole’ girl is working with us. A day at a time…

  1. Perfect spot for your new hot water heater and good paint job!!
Also love that little wooden appliqué that you added to the wooden door—looks so original.
And yeah that the plumbing is now headed for home plate!!
You two have done an amazing job restoring this beautiful home❤️
