New Hot Water Heater & Boiler!
It’s in! So sorry for the delay in posting this week. It’s been a busy week on the home front. The reason is after much research, conversations, quotes and proposals, we now have our tank-less hot water heater and boiler installed in the cellar.
This is HUGE. A main artery of the central nervous system to the house is officially up and running.
A few weeks ago the company we are using came out and did a pressure test to see if the radiators still worked and held water and after hours of work and setup, out of 22 radiators we only had 4 with leaks and those leaks were at the valve. WOW! This was such a relief. When we realized we were set, the order was placed.
Due to the size of the home, the units we ended up with are commercial size and wow, are they large! As of today the hot water is on and functioning and the radiator setup should be completed within days. This means heat! As lovely as the house is during the summer months by staying cool, in the winter, this is not what you want, trust me. lol. We are anxiously looking forward to what should be a relatively soon fix and heat in the house!
As is his style, Paul took on as much of the work as he could. By working with the installation company, they were able to carve out some of the project and let him do those things which he could do as far as prepping hookups and the wall for the units before the company came for the install. As much work as we’ve already done on the house, he is so familiar with the piping, where it goes, which pipe is still being used and which has long since been cutoff, his knowledge was incredibly valuable to the installation crew and saved them days of investigative work and us, on the financial side of things! A penny saved…to coin a phrase! (can be used on something else! lol)
He dug holes in the cellar and built frames for concrete to use for the posts to hold up the heater and boilers. With my recently acquired skills with concrete and mortar, lol, I worked with the finishing end of the platforms, while Paul built and installed the frames onto the platforms.
And slowly but surely, we are moving forward with bringing back another important part of the house; heat and hot water!

Been a while since I checked in on this, looks great, glad to hear the radiators are up and running!
Thanks! We have a ways to go to actually have heat but at least the train has left the station.
