Old Photos!! A Moment to Remember Those Who Came Before

Old Photos!! A Moment to Remember Those Who Came Before

This week, during the rains I finally decided to start sorting through some of the old bins I found upstairs in one of the bedrooms. The bins were left behind from a previous owner and appeared to have numerous old photos and other memorabilia in it. I had always planned to stop and sort through it with care and respect but hadn’t found the time to do so yet.

As I slowly went through the 1st bin, what I found truly drew me in and surprised me even. Years of history, of beautiful family and home photos, memories so delicately saved and amazing lives that were lived. There were albums full or people and amazing adventures. I will share more soon but for now, I had to post some which jumped out at me quickly (and don’t worry, we’re in touch with those who should be able to reach family and make sure they can collect these).

A few of the photos quickly got my attention as I recognized our house! The beautiful old grand girl is here. I’m pretty sure this is the oldest photo I’ve seen of this property yet. We’d even spent an afternoon at the town archives one day trying to find old photos and nothing I saw appeared this old. I think this might be Colonel Moore, who was principal of the Greenbrier Military School.

Here are a few other photos and behind where our home is now, a beautiful garden! And a lovely woman (I think this is Ms. Moore) standing outside. Oh what this house must have looked like back then.

Enjoy and I will be posting more soon. There are so many more…
