New Sneak Peeks!

Also on one of our sanity/can we break the monotony moments, we started removing paint from the staircase rails and the columns in the parlor. And look what we found underneath! Beautiful Wood! More to come…

Cellar Doors – Here are our current awesome cellar doors. Yes, a trip to the ER waiting to happen, complete with rusty nails and sharp metal edges exposed. So far, we’ve managed safely but, they are on the way out. Besides, they don’t match the lovely grey paint we chose for the foundation. More to come on this soon!

BTW, there are also no steps going down to the cellar. I failed to get a picture of that but if you can imagine it, right now we open the doors, I sit on the edge of the concrete and scoot myself down onto the first set of cinder blocks Paul has positioned for us. He’s made a make shift set of bricks/cinder blocks steps leading up the current dirt hill to the outside but, still a little tricky to navigate. Usually I go down the cellar steps from inside the house honestly. But no worries, as new steps are coming soon!

Closet – Bathroom Conversion – Below is a closet that is next to a very small bathroom. We’ve decided to enlarge the bathroom and I have begun knocking through the closet wall. Unfortunately this is not drywall and it’s not lathe and plaster either. Rather (another thing we’ve learned) it’s the first version of drywall that was used for a short period of time, we believe early 1900’s or slightly before. It’s about 2.5 inches thick and almost concrete (like hardiplank). Getting through it took a team effort, but we’re making it! Luckily the back of the next wall we also need to break through IS drywall. This, we should be (knock on wood) able to do pretty quickly (I should be careful of my words or I’ll jinx us. lol) Wish us luck!
